Dodge Challenger 2008 - Present
The 2010 Dodge Challenger is an aggressive retro-styled street machine is available in three trims: the base SE, the R/T, and the muscle-flexing SRT8. Dodge Challenger 2010 is acclaimed for its attractive retro design, roomy cabin and practical cargo room. And, while the SE model lacks sufficient power, the R/T is admired for its classic and powerful straight line performance. While not as energetic as the Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro, the Challenger's presence on the road is pure muscle car.
Dodge’s 250-horsepower, 3.5-litre V-6 and 376-horsepower, 5.7-litre V-8 push the Challenger somewhere between the lower-priced Mustang and the stronger Camaro in terms of horsepower. Both engines are mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V-8 R/T trim has an optional six-speed manual with a unique pistol-grip shifter. Fuel economy of 13-17 mpg in the city and 19-25 mpg on the highway keep the Challenger in the game.
Three engine choices are available: the SE offering a 3.5-litre V8 and a five-speed automatic transmission; the R/T, a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 and standard five-speed automatic, with a optional six-speed manual transmission; and the SRT8 packing a 6.1-litre Hemi V8, again with a choice of the automatic or manual transmission. The 3.5-litre V6 yields 250 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque and a mileage of 17/25 mpg. The R/T’s 5.7-litre V8 Hemi produces 372 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque with the five-speed automatic or 376 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque with the available six-speed manual. Fuel economy is 16/25 mpg for the automatic-shifted R/T, and 15/24 mpg with the manual transmission. The SRT8’s 6.1-litre Hemi V8 yields 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque for both transmissions and a mileage of 14/22 mpg.
. Both the five- and six-speed transmissions behave well, the manual transmission has positive, mechanical shift action and a smooth clutch, while the responsive automatic transmission shifts without harshness. Challenger’s fuel economy ratings are 13-17 mpg in the city and 19-25 mpg on the highway.
more rear legroom. The 16.2 cubic foot trunk is also much larger than that of the other muscle carsnavigation system.
