The Audi A4 is a entry-level luxury car, built by the German, Ingolstadt based company, Audi AG. The A4 has been around on the US market since 1995 when the name 80 / 90 (B3 model) was dropped and the the Audi A4 (B4 model) was offered as the successor of the 80/90.

If we consider the A4 name, the car has reached its fourth generation in 2008 making its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show that year, and entering sale on September 2008 being offered as a 2009 my car. The new generation is offered in two body style Sedan and Estate.

Now you may say that the Audi A4 reached the eight generation if we consider the platform on which is built, the Volkswagen Group B platform, that is used for marks such as Audi, Seat, VW Passenger Car and Skoda.

The 2010 Audi A4 can be bought with only one engine, the 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol, as for the transmission you have some options a six speed manual or automatic (six-speed Tiptronic or multitronic CVT). The engine produces a total of 211 horse power at 4300 rpm and 258 lb-ft at 1500, looking at the facts we could say that the drivetrain is a very potent one, and the performance figures will sustain this.

The Audi A4 can get to 60 miles per hour from standstill in just 6.3 seconds and can cover the quarter mile in 14.8 seconds at 91 mph. The A4 can return a good fuel consumption at about 21 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway, better than BMW’s 328i, that indeed uses a larger 3.0 liter engine that produces 230 hp and 199 lb-ft, which returns 17 miles per gallon in city, and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

As for the interior, Audi offers the A4 in three different lines: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. The cabin of the A4 features high-end quality materials like leather and pretty well finished details. The driving position is quite good, but the space is average, this is compensated by the tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, which has a generous adjustment range. The visibility is good.

The rear seat room is a little short, accommodating two average size adults in a comfortable position, if you want to transport three, you should consider fitting the slimmest in the middle. An other minus is the rear access in the car.

As for the safety, the 2010 Audi A4 received a top score of five stars at the frontal and side impact and rollover tests. The IIHS did not crash-tested the 2010 model, but you should know that the 2008 model receives the “Top Safety Pick” award. Among the standard safety features of the Audi A4 there are six airbags (front airbags, front-side airbags and curtain airbags), ABS (anti lock brakes) and electronic stability control (ESP) with traction control (TC).

The 2010 Audi A4 can get either front wheel drive (FrontTrack) or all wheel drive (quattro). The price range within you can buy a new A4 varies between $30,460 for the 2010 Audi A4 CVT 2.0 T FrontTrack Premium and up to $32,547 for the 2010 Audi A4 Automatic 2.0 T Quattro Prestige.
