Buick LaCrosse 2005 - Present
The Buick LaCrosse is a mid-size sedan produced by Buick at the beginning of 2005. The Buick Lacrosse replaced the Buick Century and the Buick Regal in North America. The Lacrosse is only available as a four-door sedan.
The name was inspired by a Buick concept car of the same name shown in 2000 and also used as a reference to the sport of lacrosse, seen as popular with a younger, more active demographic to which Buick sought to market.
The 2010 LaCrosse is so well conceived that the car was a finalist at the North Aemrican Car Award.
The 3.6L V6 produces 280 hp and 259 ft-lb of torque. The engine is hooked to a six-speed automatic transmission. This six-speed automatic is the only transmission available for all Buick LaCrosse trims. The car can reach 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. The average fuel consumption is around 17/27 mpg city/highway; a good economy thanks to the six-speed transmission. People who are looking to buy a Buick LaCrosse this year shouldn't hurry to do so because Buick is planning to add a new engine to the engine range. We don't have many details on this particular engine but we can tell you it will be a twin-turbo four-cylinder engine. The LaCrosse's steering is very precise and quick. The car handles really nice on the road, without too much swinging. Brakes are also precise and powerful, giving a safe feeling when you have to use them.
The exterior looks sleek but also elegant. The LaCrosse focuses its attention towards the younger public who is looking for a car with a masculine but also sporty design. Autoblog said in their review "An elegant, modern design thoroughly suited for the 21st century."
The interior is flawless. From the soft leathers, French seams, thoughtful ergonomics to the easy to use controls, the Buick LaCrosse seems to have the perfect interior. Some reviewers compare the LaCrosse's interior to the Lexus ES's and some even say the Buick wins. The front seats of the LaCrosse offer more bolstering than the bench-like chairs in most previous Buick products. The car also has an enormous backseat with plenty of legroom for three people. The key requirement for a sedan is to fit five people and the LaCrosse can do so easily. Another strong point is the high-quality materials and superb finish of the LaCrosse's cabin. Easy-to-use electronics, including a unique radio recording system that allows drivers to pause and play back radio content, win particular praise among reviewers.
In Fedaral Gouvernment testing the LaCrosse got five out of five stars for both frontal impact and side impact crashes. The car also got four out of five stars for its ability to prevent a rollover, in both front- and all-wheel-drive trims. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the LaCrosse the highest possible score in the Institute's frontal-impact, side-impact and roof crush tests. Standard equipment includes front, front-side and side head-curtain airbags. Rear-seat side airbags are available as an option. Stability control, traction control and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are also standard.
The Buick LaCrosse is available on the market in four trims. The Base model is equipped with a 2.4 L Ecotec engine that generates 182 hp. The CX and CXL models are equipped with a 3.0 L V6 engine that produces 255 hp. The last model is the CXS model, which is equipped with a 3.6 L V6 making 280 hp.
