Cadillac Escalade 2007 - Present
Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) produced by the luxury brand of GM, Cadillac. It was first introduced in 1999 to compete with the Lincoln Navigator released by Ford in 1998, but the production was started about 10 months later. There are three generations of the Escalade till present, with the one released in 2010 marking the fourth. The 2010 Cadillac Escalade flushes into 2010 with new design, impressive interior and better performance.
The brand new Escalade offers a powerful 6.2 liter V8 engine, generating 403 hp which helps the car to provide a quite good acceleration despite its big size and a maximum torque of 417 lb-ft. The engine is fitted to a six speed automatic transmission. The bad thing about the engine is that the fuel economy is not really an economy, being estimated at 14 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg mixed. The sport utility vehicle is featuring a system that deactivates the cylinders, considered to be a fuel saving technology, but where is the saving The car reaches sixty mph in about 7.5 seconds, impressive number considering the size of the vehicle. 2010 Cadillac Escalade is offered in rear wheel drive as standard and all wheel drive as optional.
The 2010 Cadillac Escalade is entering a more elegant segment due to its new design, more proportional with glossy paint and more clean and solid style. It is offered in three styles of body, the Escalade which is a simple four door sport utility, the ESV, which has a longer wheelbase than the normal Escalade and the last one EXT, which is offered as a small truck, with the back end opened. On the exterior we can also find the exciting 22 inch 7-spoke chromed aluminum wheels.
The interior of the 2010 Cadillac Escalade is very spacious, offering the possibility for eight people to sit in it comfortable, but the standard seating configuration is only for seven people. Cadillac offers a lot of features including rear park assist, power lift gate, remote starter, XM satellite radio, independent climate control for three zones, DVD navigation system as optional, premium Bose stereo, in-dash six CD changer, 10 speakers and MP3. The buyer can also opt for other features as independent rear seat audio control, rear seat entertainment system with DVD player and roof-mounted 8 inch screen.
The 2010 Cadillac Escalade does great in the federal government safety tests scoring five stars in driver and passenger safety in frontal impact, but for rollover tests scores only a three star rating. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety did not rate the 2010 Cadillac Escalade yet. As for safety features the Cadillac Escalade has four wheel disc anti-lock brakes and StabiliTrak which uses a computer for unsafe conditions detection, applying the brakes for maintaining the vehicle control. Other safety features are the Traction Control, front side airbags; side curtain airbags for all the three rows of seats and of course the OnStar communication system.
Between a number of 11 full-size SUVs, the 2010 Cadillac Escalade is placed on the first position due to a ranking made from a series of more than 50 reviews, so if you consider buying a new car, you want a large one and you are not considering the engine's thirst of fuel, this could be a good option.
