The Chevrolet Camaro is a car made by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. It went on the market in September 29, 1966 for the 1967 model year and was intended as a contending model to the Ford Mustang. The Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird (which was also introduced in 1967) used the same platform and major parts. In 2002, production stopped and the Camaro was revived. It was developed on a concept vehicle that became the fifth-generation Camaro.

The Chevrolet Camaro SS is powered by a huge 6.2 liter eight-cylinder engine, which produces 422 hp at 5,900 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque at 4,600 rpm, delivering a strong performance, reaching 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

The version fitted with the manual transmission has 6 gears, netting an average fuel economy of 16/24 mpg (city/highway), having a fuel tank capacity of 19 gal. The automatic version nets 16/25 mpg (city/highway).

The standard version includes components such as a rack-and-pinion steering system, Brembo high-performance brakes and fully independent front and rear suspensions. It also has a stability control system, called StabiliTrak, which uses ABS and Traction Control, enhancing the overall stability in slippery conditions.

Regarding its dimensions, the Camaro SS is 190.4 inches long, its wheelbase span measuring 112.3 inches, having a width of 75.5 inches and being 54.2 inches tall. The Camaro weighs in at 3849 pounds.

The interior of the car is spacious, the driver having a lot of leg and knee room and adequate head room without the optional sunroof. The steering column has a wide range of adjustments, but shorter drivers might have to sit closer to the steering wheel because of the long reach to the clutch pedal, which might lead to an uncomfortable position.

The front leather seats are wide, well padded and supportive, the large bolsters adding lateral support. The rear seats do not offer the same degree of space as the front seats, being well suited only for cargo or small children.

The Camaro SS has highly styled gauges, offering a retro feeling. The climate control system works well, having complex controls.

Overall, the Camaro SS has a well-finished interior, including the nice leather seats, the rubber-lined switches on the dashboard and the stitched-leather steering wheel among others.

Thanks to its specially designed chassis, the Chevrolet Camaro SS passes all crash test reviews with ease! And because of that same chassis and excellent building materials, frontal and side impacts are extremely safe.

Along with the Camaro SS, General Motors also designed the Camaro LS and LT.
The main difference between the SS and the other two variations is the engine. While the SS is equipped with a massive 6.2 liter V8 engine, the LS and LT are equipped with a 3.6 liter V6 engine. As for the average fuel economy, the LS and LT net 17 mpg on the highway and 29 mpg in the city, having the same 19 gal fuel tank as the SS.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a muscle car that lives up to its bad boy image, the Camaro SS is a great buy. If you're more into looks, the LS and LT might save you around $10K, but performance is not as good as that of the SS.
