The Chevrlolet Colorado is a mid size pick-up truck launched in 2004 to replace the old Chevy S-10 compact truck. The Colorado was introduced at a time when the market was looking for cars with a low rate of fuel consumption due to the volatile gas prices and the Colorado sold this one by promising a high fuel economy along with the traditional power of a muscle car. Althoght the Colorado offers many new features reviewers state that it still dosen't quite fit in the market considering it's competition wich offers more attractive interios and make a smoother drive. With the introduction of the GMC Canynon, the Colorado is slowly but surely starting to lose it's slice of the market, althought there are rumors that GM might cancel production for both models in 2011.

Three different engines power the 2010 Colorado a inline-4, an inline-5 and a V8.The basic model engine is a 2.9 liter four cylinder that produces 185 horsepower and is capable of unleashing 190 pounds-feet of torque.The optional 3.7 liter five cylinder produces 242 horsepower and 242 pounds-feet of torque.The extended cab and the crew cab models are equipped with a 5.4 liter V8 produces 300 horsepower and unleashes 320 pounds-feet of torque. The amazing V8 comes with an automatic four speed transmission, which is also optional for most four cylinder Colorados, but the standard transmision for all models is a five-speed manual. An optional locking differential and a two speed InstaTrac with push button controls is available is you purchase the four-wheel drive models.

Automobile Magazine put the V8 engine to the ultimate pick-up test and got the engine from 0 to 60 mph in 15.9 seconds while hitched to a boat and a trailer weighting the astounding amount of 5,150 pounds. The ZQ8 model was more appreaciated than the rest for it's lower and more road tunned suspension on brakes.The inline 4 has a EPA fuel efficency of 21 miles per gallon combined, althoght the test were made only the automatic transmission models. The five cylinder and the V8 get a combined rating of 19 miles per gallon and 17 miles per gallon in terms of fuel economy.

In terms of exterior the Colorado hasn't changed much from it's introduction in 2004 and still retains it's bold, though looking Chevy family "face".The Colorado has three body styles a regular cab model, an extended cab, with short reverse opening doors , and a crew cab,four regular forward swinging doors.Crew cabs have a five-foot cargo box while the other models feature a six-foot bed .The Colorado has two primary trim levels the base Work Truck and the LT which consists of 3 subsets.The crew cab is only available in LT trim.

Although the base Colorado model is sparesly equipped reviewers seem to enjoy the layout the dash but not the materials.More options are available at higher trim levels.The seats are uncomfortable,but reviewers seem hate back seats regardless of cab style.The Colorado can seat three to six peple depending on the body style.The interior design is highly functionalwith easy to use climate and radio controls and lighted gauges.

The standard equipment has air conditioning a tilt steering wheel,cruise control. folding exterior mirrors. Other features include traction contro, XM Satellite, radio, fog lamps,leahter seats, a sunroof, a six CD-changer and a sliding rear window.

The Colorado comes with equipped with standard features such as OnStar emergency communications system, antilock brakes, stability control, traction control an side curtain airbags.The car got five stars in the goverment frontal impactcrash tests.

The truck is a very smooth quiet drive around town, and with the Z71 or ZQ8 suspension upgrades it can become a more than satisfying drive in town or onthe highway.
