The Honda Accord series is manufactured by Honda since 1976, and classified as a mid-size car. The Accord name was chosen to reflect "Honda's desire for accord and harmony between people, society and the automobile". It is the first Japanese car ever produced in the United States, and became the best-selling Japanese car for fifteen years (1982-97). Numerous tests say that the Accord was and remains one of the world's most reliable vehicles.

The 2010 Honda Accord gives buyers a great choice regarding performance. The model is available with three different engines and transmissions. The two four cylinder models come either with a five speed manual or a five speed automatic transmission. The V6-powered Accords can also come with a six-speed manual transmission. The 3.5 liter, 271 hp V6 engine delivers a smooth and lively performance, offering brisk acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds. One of the Accord strong suits still remains the fuel economy, earning a 19/29 mpg rating, from the EPA. The engine saves gas, when under light throttle or coasting by shutting down some of the cylinders. With tight handling, and sporty reflexes it offers a smooth and composed ride on the highway. Brakes are responsive, and the headlights intensity and illumination distance is very good.

The 2010 Honda Accord model remains different from the Japanese and European versions. It comes in both, Coupe and Sedan body styles, different but shares some similarities. They kept the angular lines and the masculine shield grille of the previous model. Some consider the coupe sportier than the sedan. Though viewed as a mid-size car by the automotive press, the sedan is just above the limit that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defined as a mid-size car. That makes the sedan a full-size car, but the coupe remains classified as a mid-size car.

The cabin is really spacious, offering more head and leg room for the passengers, not just in the back but in the front as well. The seats are firmer and well bolstered, as well as more supportive then previous generations. The driving position has great visibility and leg room, the steering wheel tilts and telescopes. The touch screen navigation system was replaced by a navigation-screen operated by a rotary knob. The displays are not too big but you won't find any trouble in reading them because they have back lighted gauges. The navigation control, the stereo and other car functions have a voice command system that is operated from a set of buttons from the steering wheel. All the buttons are labeled. The trunk is a bit small; having 14 cubic feet and a small opening, but it can be extended by folding the backseat.

The 2010 Accord got good crash test results from the federal government. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not tested yet the 2010 Accord, but the 2009 model not so different from the new model, earned the Institute's "Top Safety Pick" award. The six airbags, head curtain airbags, dual-chamber side-impact airbags and Electronic Stability Control are standard. The car has a system that is designed to disable the front airbags in case the front seat is not occupied. The front seat belts are equipped with adjustable upper anchors with pre-tensioners to prevent belt slack in case of a crash. Daytime running lights are standard.

Other variants are as follows: the Honda Accord Coupe which comes in three trims, EX, EX-L and EX-L V6 which is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 280 hp. This engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.

The Honda Accord Coupe is very appealing, especially to young people who like to drive fast and powerful cars.

Another variant is the Honda Accord Crosstour which is a crossover SUV and probably the best variant due to its luxurious interior, sporty look and cargo space. The Accord Crosstour comes with the same 3.5 liter V6, packing 271 hp. The Accord Crosstour drives just like an Accord Sedan and the interior is almost identical.

No matter what variant you may choose you can not go wrong. The Honda Accord Family will surely satisfy your needs when you are looking for a new car.
