GMC Sierra 3500 HD 2007-Present
The GMC Sierra 3500 HD is a heavy duty full-size pickup truck produced by General Motors under the GMC brand. It was first introduced in 2001 and is the successor of the Heavy-Duty GMT400 pickup. The Sierra is the counter part of the Silverado produced by Chevrolet, another GM brand and they are essentially the same only that the Sierra is a more luxurious light pickup truck than the Silverado.
On the exterior of the 2010 GMC Sierra 3500 HD we will find the same angular and muscular look that can be found also on the GMC Sierra 1500. The design is a little distinct than the 1500 models such as the grille is more pronounced and the hood with the headlamps is slightly different. The Sierra 3500, unlike the other Sierra models is only available with the long box configuration. The cab availability is the same with the other Sierra models so we will find the regular cab, the extended cab and the crew cab, all the three having the long bed configuration making it a particularly large truck. Distinctive from the 2500 HD is that on the Sierra 3500 HD we can find another wheel configuration meaning that it has four rear wheels.
Different from the 1500 models where we have a lot of engine configurations, on the Sierra 3500 HD only two powerful engines are available. The most powerful is the 6.6 liter V8 engine that makes 365 hp and a huge 660 lb-ft of torque hooked up with a six speed automatic transmission as standard. The base engine is a 6.0 liter V8 that generates 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque fitted to a different six-speed automatic transmission. Well equipped the 2010 GMC Sierra 3500 HD can tow up to 13.000 pounds but Ford offers more towing power, up to 18.400 pounds with the F-350. It is also able to haul up to 5,309 pounds. The car can be configured in all wheel drive and two wheel drive configurations. The 3500 HD handles very well despite its size only parking in the city range will give you a few headaches. The 3500 HD model won't provide good fuel economy and since it is a large truck the EPA didn't estimate the fuel economy. More economic is the hybrid version of the Sierra 1500 but will not have the tow and haul capabilities of the Sierra HD.
On the inside of the GMC Sierra 3500 HD of either the three different cab models we will find plenty of space, comfortable seats and a very luxurious cabin with high quality materials. Two interior cabin configurations are also available, one that is pure pickup anything but not luxurious with word-oriented with easy to clean materials and the other is similar to the GMC Yukon SUV luxurious interior. The interior features available on the 2010 GMC Sierra 3500 HD include dual-zone air conditioning, driver information center, interior lighting, two dash-mounted, 12-volt auxiliary power outlets, adjustable-tilt steering column, AM/FM stereo with standard XM navigation system and satellite radio on the Pure-Truck interior while the luxurious interior includes cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate controls, and a Bose speaker system.
The 2010 GMC Sierra 2500 HD was not put to crash tests either by the federal government or the insurance agencies but its strong construction and large size will provide good protection in crashes. GMC offers also a lot of safety features such as frontal, driver and right-front passenger with Passenger Sensing System, Daytime running lamp, 4-wheel antilock braking system, the OnStar emergency system, StabiliTrak and many others keeping you safe
