GMC Yukon 2007 - Present
The GMC Yukon is a full-size sport utility vehicle produced by General Motors under the GMC brand. It is produced since 1992 as a rebadged version of the Jimmy. Until 2004 it was marketed as a two door car but in 2004 it was introduced the four door version of the Yukon and now it is only produced as a four-door SUV.
The GMC Yukon suffered last major redesign three years ago and has the shape of the traditional full-size SUV. Since its redesign the Yukon looks smaller and very elegant but the styling remained on the conservative side. It's hard to combine elegance with the dimensions of a full-size vehicle, but they've done it well. Helping to increase the visual style of the Yukon, we can find standard 17 inch alloy wheels, but optional 20 inch and 22 inch wheels and also a chrome package that includes chrome door handles, chrome mirror caps, polished exhaust tips, chrome recovery hooks and chrome grille.
Under the hood of the 2010 we can find the Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI FlexFuel with Active Fuel Management, capable of running on unleaded or up to 85% ethanol that is capable to produce 320 hp at 5400 rpm 335 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is hooked to a six-speed automatic transmission electronically controlled with overdrive. The Active Fuel Management system is used to shuts off four of the eight cylinders when they are not needed helping to reduce the fuel consumption. The performance is good for a vehicle with this size being capable to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds and covers the quarter mile in 16.6 seconds when reached an 86 mph speed. The Environment Protection Agency rated the 2010 GMC Yukon to 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The car can be bought in either the two wheel drive configuration as standard or buyers can opt for the all-wheel drive mode. The Yukon is pretty easy to drive but it still drives like a large SUV.
The interior of the new 2010 GMC Yukon has great quality of the materials unlike the last year's models and can be associated with luxurious interior. The great thing about the interior is that it can sit up to nine people in comfortable positions. The first row can be either a three person bench or just two seats and the second row as well. In the third row the situation is different though, it does not provide the same comfort and space but it is suitable for children. On the interior we can find a lot of features such as tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio and cruise controls, single-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth for phone, driver information center, instrumentation, power outlets, remote vehicle start, 8-way power driver seat adjuster with lumbar control, heated seats, AM/FM/XM stereo with CD player and MP3/WMA playback capability, audio system with 6-speaker, navigation and rear seat entertainment system.
The 2010 GMC Yukon does well in the crash test made by the federal government, receiving a five stars rating for frontal impact while only three stars for the rollover tests. Among the safety features we can remind the anti lock braking system, dual-stage front airbags, driver and front passengers airbags, side and side curtain airbags, OnStar emergency system and Stabilitrak system.
