Chrysler Sebring 2001 - 2006
Overview
The Chrysler Sebring is a mid size car built by the American car maker Chrysler from 1995 until 2010. The Chrysler Sebring replaced three cars, the Sebring Coupe and the Sebring Convertible replaced the Chrysler LeBaron and the Sebring Sedan replaced the Chrysler Cirrus and Plymouth Breeze. In its production lifetime the Chrysler Sebring had three generation. The first generation was built from 1995 to 2000 and was available first only as a coupe and starting in 1996 as a convertible. The two body styles did not share many components nor any sheet metal. Second generation was produced from 2001 to 2006, it also used the Sebring name on three different cars that added a four-door sedan model, but the coupe was discontinued after 2005, the 2008 Chrysler Sebring hardtop convertible took it place. The third generation was introduced for 2007 and was discontinued in 2010, it was available as a sedan with a hardtop convertible version added in 2008 and the cars now shared the same platform.
Second generation of the Chrysler Sebring has been assembled at Chrysler's plants in Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States (sedan and convertible) and Normal, Illinois (coupe). The coupe version was built on the Chrysler ST22 platform also used for the Dodge Stratus and Mitsubishi Eclipse; the convertible and sedan versions were built on the Chrysler JR platform.
For 2004 model year Sebrings, Chrysler applied a minor facelift for 1997. The grille was replaced with a slightly larger black grid. Most of the upgrade referred to the front nose of the car.
