Chrysler Town and Country 1990
Overview
The Chrysler Town & Country is a family minivan manufactured by the American car maker Chrysler and sold worldwide. The Town & Country was introduced in 1990 as the luxury version of the Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager and Chrysler Voyager. Up until now the Town & Country, the Caravan and the Plymouth had evolved trough no less than five generation, offered in two long wheelbase (LWB) and short wheelbase (SWB) versions, currently only the LWB version is available.
First generation of the Chrysler Town & Country was built on the Chrysler S platform shared with the 1984 - 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan, 1987 - 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager and the 1988 - 1990 Chrysler Grand Voyager (sold throughout Europe).
Variants
Chrysler offered first generation of the Town & Country with two engines a 3.0 liter V6 and a 3.3 liter V6. The 3.0 liter V6 had a top power output of 142 hp @ 5000 rpm and a maximum torque of 173 lb/ft @ 2800 rpm. This engine was available only with a four speed automatic gearbox that delivered the power to the front wheels. In terms of performance, the Town & Country 3.0 could sprint to 60 mph in 11.6 sec and travel the quarter mile from a standing start in 18.1 sec. As for the fuel economy, the car returned 23.1 mpg (11.8 L/100 KM)
Second engine, the 3.3 liter V6, kicked out 150 hp @ 4800 rpm and a peck torque of 185 lb/ft @ 3600 rpm. The engine was available only with the 4 speed automatic, with the drive was also at the front. The car could get to 60 mph from zero in 11.4 sec and cover a quarter of a mile from standstill start in 18.2 sec. With this engine the Town & Country returned an average of 21.2 mpg (12.9 L / 100 KM).
The Town & Country measured 191.1 inch (4862 mm) in length, 72 inch (1829 mm) in width and 64.8 inch (1646 mm) in height. The wheel base of the Town & Country was at 119.1 inch (3025 mm). Curb weight of the Town & Country was at 3,531 lbs (1,602 kg).
The 1990 Town & Country was very well equipped, offering leather interior, power windows, power locks, air conditioning, an Infinity sound system, exterior wood grain applique, seven-passenger seating and an electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission. The first generation of this model rebadge would be redesigned as the body style was aging at the time of introduction.
